About

IMCV (ndonesian Muslim Community of Victoria) Inc. is a non-profit religious society dedicated to the promotion of the Islamic religion amongst Indonesian residents in the State of Victoria, Australia.

IMCV was founded in 1997 by six (6) Pengajian groups (Islamic study groups); Pengajian Brunswick, Pengajian Laverton, Pengajian LaTrobe, Monash Indonesian Islamic Society (MIIS), Young Indonesian Muslim Students Association (YIMSA), and At Taqwa (nowadays known as Pengajian Westall) with the support from Indonesian Consulate General in Melbourne. Later on Pengajian Footscray and An-Nur were formed and joined in.

IMCV is aimed:

  1. To promote the practice and principles of the Islamic religion within Indonesian Muslim community in Victoria.
  2. To represent and be an advocate for Islamic study groups when dealing with government bodies, other organisations and any legal matters.
  3. To assist new residents from Indonesia including students and expatriates, to settle in and assimilate with Australian culture and environment.
  4. To assist in all matters concerning the cultural and spiritual well being of the members and person entitled to become members.
  5. To promote co-operation between organisations promoting similar objects
  6. To establish, publish and distribute literature for the benefit of its members and contribute to and subscribe to journals of other organisation and bodies
  7. To purchase, sell, mortgage, lease or otherwise deal in real personal property of all kinds for the benefit of the Organisation as a whole
  8. To appoint and employ officers, Solicitors, Accountants, Auditors and other persons considered necessary for the efficient working of the Organisation and to pay such salaries, fees and allowances to persons so appointed and to members of the Organisation engaged in furthering the objects and work of the Organisation
  9. To establish trust for the purpose of holding and safeguarding the capital assets of the Organisation, and in particular to manage the funds collected (if any) for the establishment of a religious and community centre and property (if any) thereafter
  10. to do all such things the Organisation may from time to time deem incidental or conductive to the attainment of the above objects or any of them
